Chrismas 99
During its historic 136 years, The Danish Pioneer has only had a handful of editors and has endured this unprecedented test of time due to the efforts of many, including the Hansen, Neble, Bertelsen, Nygaard and Steffensen families.

Chris Steffensen and Bent KiilerichChris Steffensen, the Editor of The Danish Pioneer from 1984 to 2001, was appointed Knight of the Order of Dannebrog by Queen Margrethe II in connection with the newspaper's 125th anniversary in 1997. Ambassador, Consul General to Chicago, Bent Kiilerich (left) officially decorates the Editor at a reception on January 29, 1997. Today, Steffensen's wife Elsa is publisher and his daughter Linda is editor.
